Rahman Ravelli enters administration despite £1.75 million net worth in last accounts

Specialist fraud and financial crime law firm Rahman Ravelli Solicitors Limited has entered administration after 25 years in business, with clients being asked to transfer their cases to other solicitors.

A notice on the firm’s website confirms that Andrew Hosking and Jamie Taylor of BTG Advisory LLP were appointed joint administrators of Rahman Ravelli Solicitors Ltd on 20 October 2026. The practice is now closing down.

Founded in 2001 by Aziz Rahman, the firm operated from Halifax and the City of London. It developed a national and international practice covering serious fraud, bribery, money laundering, asset recovery and complex commercial litigation.

£1.75 million net worth in last accounts

The company’s accounts for the year ending 31 December 2024 showed a net worth of approximately £1.75 million. Less than two years after that balance sheet date, the firm entered administration.

Its accounts for the year ending 31 December 2025 were due by 30 September 2026. Companies House currently carries an overdue accounts warning, with the 2024 accounts remaining the latest filed.

The earlier net worth figure is a historical accounting position. It does not establish what assets are now available or how much creditors may recover.

Administration not yet recorded at Companies House

At the time of checking, no administrators’ appointment notice or other administration documents appeared in the company’s Companies House filing history. Confirmation of the appointment comes from the notice published on Rahman Ravelli’s own website.

The public notice does not explain the reasons for the failure, quantify the company’s debts or give an estimate of potential payments to creditors.

Director resigned after less than ten months

Companies House records show that Syedur Rahman was appointed a director on 22 October 2025, with the appointment filed on 28 October 2025.

He resigned on 19 August 2026, just under ten months after his appointment and approximately two months before the administration. He has since joined Keystone Law as a partner specialising in international disputes, asset recovery and financial crime.

Client money unaffected, firm states

According to the administration notice, funds held in the regulated client account are unaffected by the administration.

Clients are being asked to give instructions about their future representation and may choose their replacement solicitor. Case handlers will arrange the transfer of files and any client money in accordance with those instructions.

Samantha Palmer of Child & Child Law Limited has been appointed solicitor manager to oversee client money transfers. Closed and archived files are being stored securely online by the administrators.

Major bribery trial concluded months before collapse

Only months before entering administration, Rahman Ravelli represented oil industry executive Olatimbo Ayinde in a major bribery trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Ayinde faced two charges under the Bribery Act 2010. The first concerned allegations of bribing former Nigerian oil minister and OPEC president Diezani Alison-Madueke. The second concerned bribing a foreign public official through an alleged $5 million payment relating to her successor, Emmanuel Kachikwu, who was not a defendant in the trial.

Ayinde was acquitted of both charges on 17 June 2026. Her co-defendants, Alison-Madueke and Doye Agama, were also acquitted of all charges. Rahman Ravelli’s team representing Ayinde was led by Aziz Rahman.

Creditors await financial details

The firm’s administration notice directs creditors to the BTG Advisory team, but provides no information about the likely outcome for those owed money.

The administrators’ proposals and supporting financial information should provide a clearer picture of how a practice reporting approximately £1.75 million in net worth at the end of 2024 reached administration in October 2026.
